Lviv opera is rapidly changing.Tadey Eider expresses hope that next week the theatre will receive the national status and will be named after Solomia Krushelnitska |
|
In the nearest future the Lviv Opera will undergo certain changes which can seriuosly influence "routine day-to-day activities" of Galichina's number one cultural institution, as well as its secular image. But in either case, the theater will be transferred to a qualitatively new level of its existence. According to the the session ruling of the regional council, the Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Ivan Franko was transferred from municipal to the state property. The core difference of this change is that financing from the Ministry of Culture will be directly passed to the theatre's centralized accounting department leaving out local budgets. Creative aspects of theater's activities are unlikely to be substantially changed - the "wishes" of the upper crust to our theater-lovers to perfect the mastery could only be informal and attendant. It is worth saying that the decision to become the state property was caused by the Opera's objective to obtain the national status. "Only the state institution can become the national, as previewed by the legislation, - explained theater director Òadey Åder. - The very status of the national gives a lot to the theater, because the National Opera - it's the National Opera.". This accreditation level previewes not only salary increase of the employees, but strengthening of the image as well, starting from grander opportunities (including financial) for the professional perfection and ending with the attention of the government and other circles. Besides, the theater's name will sound in a new way - it is proposed
to be changed from "Ivan Franko " to "Solomia Krushelnitska
". According to Mr. Eder, future President's decree will compactly
contain all the changes: the transfer of the theater to the state property,
obtaining the national status with all the consequences and renaming as
well. The finak co-ordination of all the projected plans should be expected
the next weel. We'll see when the spectator will feel the effect of such
loud perturbations. "Postup " 4 November 2000 |
